Rev. Asa Greear, Executive Director/Director of Missions

A Word From Your Executive Director

Micah 5:2 says“But thou, Bethlehem Ephrathah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting.”

It is amazing how many stories in the Old Testament have come true even through today. We celebrate the Birth of a Savior, Jesus, told of us over 700 years before in God’s Holy Word. Even the pagans give gifts remembering the greatest gift ever given by God, the gift of Jesus who came to die for our sins. Oh what a savior we serve. As we look at the world let’s keep giving the gift of Jesus to those around us. Focus on what He has given you and share that gift with others. I have been blessed this year to visit two different Christmas specials. They were great fun and great blessing to many. I will be involved in one at the Hammock Resort on Christmas Eve at 5pm. Please pray for this as we reach into a group where many do not know personally the Savior.

In all the activities of shopping and giving and ordering and buying please do not forget the missionaries that serve the Southern Baptist Convention this year. There are over 3500 around the world away from their families, in dark countries that do not even celebrate Christmas!! Remember them by giving to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering. Our SBC president has issued a challenge to all our churches that he will do something crazy, weird if we reach and exceed the goal of 160 million. So give a little extra so we can have some fun seeing J.D. Greear do something goofy in front of 1000’s all for the cause of missions. I personally want him to bungie off the WVA bridge or preach without a shirt on at the convention but that is my weird requests. All for fun of giving so our missionaries will be able to tell someone about Jesus and see their lives changed for all eternity.

Please pray for us this Christmas. Thaddeus and Lydia need your prayers for healing. We also will be leaving for a mission trip to France Dec. 29-Jan 10. If you want a prayer guide to pray for us just call the office or email us.

Our Christmas Dinner was a huge success and a SPECIAL blessing to Lydia and I. Thanks to Brother Joey, Donna and River Road for making this Christmas very special to us all. Merry Christmas and a Very Happy New Year!

I am thankful to all of you.

Verse of the day

“For, “All people are like grass, and all their glory is like the flowers of the field; the grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of the Lord endures forever.” And this is the word that was preached to you.” (1 Peter 1:24-25)  listen to chapter  (Read by Max McLean.
