A Word From Your Executive Director

Romans 6:9-11 says:

”Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him. For in that he died, he died unto sin once: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God. Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.” (KJV)

Wow what a group of verses on how to live, we live to ourselves too much these days. All it takes is a simple accident to get us on our knees and realize that God is all there really is. Things don't matter so much, work doesn't even matter but our relationship with the Lord Jesus. We sin in so many ways with worry, anxiety, gossip, unforgiveness, worldliness and just chasing things that do not matter in eternity. We spend way too much time on those things, instead of blessing those in need, in the name of Jesus. Many times we will get busy doing things for people for our own glory. God brings this into perspective with these verses. Jesus left all of heaven’s glory to die for us. He loved us that much. So how will we who have trusted in Him then live? We shall live as He did. Dying to sin in our lives through prayer, repentance and a lot of struggle, we will live to Jesus.

Well we are in the middle of another battle in our lives personally. I am on my Sabbatical for a month and the Lord has put a challenge in our way. Instead of going away somewhere, I will be caring for Lydia who tore a tendon in her foot and will have surgery next Tuesday in Jacksonville. I will be caring for her over the next few weeks. Pray for us. I still am having time to read and study and looking to the great future we have as an Association. God is doing some mighty things in our churches. I am hearing of many baptisms and lives being changed. VBS was a great success and the sports camps were a great success too. Look into that next year. We will be having Deacon Training coming up in near future, Friday, October 5. Also we are in the process of having a Pastors Study Time for both Bi-Vocational and Full-Time Pastors.

Please put on your calendar the Annual Meeting coming up October 18, 2018. A great night to come out and Praise the Lord at FBC Palatka and hear their new Pastor preach. Our Mission Builders are working on two local projects. If you have any skills in this area please call the Office. One project is a miracle in the making for Petra Baptist Church and pastor Ted Owens. Please continue to pray for John Holley and the work they do.

Continue to pray for your Association and look at your giving to us and ask God how much you would value your association and all we are doing together for the glory of God. Pray for us as we walk though this time of our lives that God would be glorified and that sin would not have any foothold in our lives. I will be back ready to preach September 29. Call me if you need me in any way.

Blessings!

Verse of the day

“For, “All people are like grass, and all their glory is like the flowers of the field; the grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of the Lord endures forever.” And this is the word that was preached to you.” (1 Peter 1:24-25)  listen to chapter  (Read by Max McLean.
